Teamwork makes the dream work.

I feel like tonight is as good a night as any for a husband/father appreciation post.

Moms get a lot of credit (well-deserved, of course!) but I believe good dads should as well. (Not just on Father’s Day). My baby’s dad… he’s pretty great.

To see how much he loves his boy, and how much his boy loves him… it just doesn’t get much better than that. He loves to play with Spencer and spend time with him. He can’t wait for Spencer to get bigger so he can teach him all kinds of things.

I will admit that I have not always been this appreciative, and I am sorry for that. I’m trying something new this year and instead of complaining about things, I’m only focusing on the positives. And I’m seeing now more than ever what a blessing I have in my husband.

This parenting stuff is not easy, and I like to think I am the “primary” parent because I handle the feeding and diapers and nighttime wakings and watch him all day…

…but who plays with him from the minute he gets home until bedtime? Who rocks him to sleep at night? Who sings to him and makes him laugh until he’s gasping for air and applauds every little thing he does? Who gets up early every day and goes to an office job that isn’t at all exciting or “fulfilling,” because he wants to provide for his family? Who takes the trash out every morning and gets the mail every night and carries our laundry up and down the stairs for me and gets me water whenever I want? Who encourages me and loves me without fail and provides me with emotional stability and a sense of safety and comfort?

My rockstar husband, that’s who.

Before there were three Stewarts, there were two of us. And one day it will be the two of us again. And I’m loving this journey with my soulmate and looking forward to loving him for the rest of my days.

I’m a blessed woman, and Spencer hit the jackpot when he got Jordan as a father.
