Weekend recap.

Lots of outdoor time this weekend. It was gorgeous out until today, back into the 90s. 🔥 We went walking at the park, played at the playground, and Spencer started trying to put sentences together (which sounded a lot like "babababadadadadamamamama BYE BYE DADDY HIYA MAMA"). Our best friends came over with their baby who… Continue reading Weekend recap.

Don’t wish this away.

There's beauty (and difficulty) in each phase of life. What if we could learn to just appreciate that instead of wishing we were already in the next phase? Especially regarding the baby/toddler phase - it seems like so many parents talk about that phase like it's something to be survived or endured, rather than cherished… Continue reading Don’t wish this away.

“Train up a child..”

I was walking to my car after church last Sunday and suddenly thought.. "I don't want to raise Spencer to be a Christian. I want to raise him to follow Jesus." I'm sure to some people, these are one and the same. They should be, and sometimes they are. Full disclosure: many times I struggle… Continue reading “Train up a child..”

Same stuff, different day.

Most days, it seems like I do the same things over and over. And it almost feels pointless to do these things, because no one really notices. No one is applauding my work or promoting me... I'm not receiving any awards. Of course, I'm referring to the work that I do at my primary job,… Continue reading Same stuff, different day.

18 months.

Spencer is now 18 months old... how are we seriously 6 months away from his 2nd birthday?? Time flies and this momma wants to cry.  His 18 month checkup isn't until next week, so I'm not sure on his weight/height. His last checkup he was 27 pounds and 34 inches, and I honestly feel like… Continue reading 18 months.

The boy who made me “Momma.”

Hard to believe he's about to turn 18 months old already!  There is no sweeter sound to my ears than his laughter, his baby babble, and his sweet voice saying "momma! Momma!" I love watching him grow up.  I love taking him to the park and to the store. I love how he says "hi"… Continue reading The boy who made me “Momma.”

Letting life happen.

I've seen the movie Forrest Gump probably 500 times. At LEAST 500. It's one of my favorite movies, and my dad loved Tom Hanks movies, so we watched it a lot.  Watching it on Netflix with Spencer yesterday, I got kind of emotional. I don't know if it's because I have a child now, and… Continue reading Letting life happen.

I see you, baby.

I'm having a hard time lately accepting that my son is basically no longer a baby. I am trying desperately to hold onto whatever baby-ness I can, while also being so excited to see how he is learning and growing. I feel like I blinked and he was a walking, talking little boy.  How much… Continue reading I see you, baby.

Clingy boy.

Clinginess used to be a huge irritant to me... clingy people drove me crazy and usually drove me away.  My almost 17-month-old has always been clingy to mommy, but is going through an exceptionally clingy phase. He wants me to hold him ALL the time. He wants me sitting within arms reach. He wanders around… Continue reading Clingy boy.Â
