Seek first the kingdom.

My first "real" job after college was working in a call center. We sat in rows of cubicles in pretty close proximity to each other. When one person in the row was sick, everyone in the row got sick. When one person had an angry caller, everyone within three rows knew about it. One of… Continue reading Seek first the kingdom.

Weekend recap.

We decided to go out to eat on Friday instead of me cooking dinner; it was just a really crazy week and we felt like getting out of the house. We ended up getting KFC for dinner because it's something that all 3 of us like and can agree on, plus it's pretty affordable. Spencer… Continue reading Weekend recap.

Confessions of a “mom-bie.”

It's been a little while since I wrote anything. Truthfully, I've just been too tired lately. Spencer, for whatever reason, is going through yet another phase of wanting to be up for 2-3 hours in the middle of the night. I'm kind of done blaming it on teething, and I feel like he's been constantly… Continue reading Confessions of a “mom-bie.”

Weekend recap.

Lots of outdoor time this weekend. It was gorgeous out until today, back into the 90s. 🔥 We went walking at the park, played at the playground, and Spencer started trying to put sentences together (which sounded a lot like "babababadadadadamamamama BYE BYE DADDY HIYA MAMA"). Our best friends came over with their baby who… Continue reading Weekend recap.

I’m inadequate, and that’s completely ok.

Ever since I can remember, I've felt immense pressure to seem like I have it all together. Negative emotions were not well-received in my home growing up... we didn't have "pity parties" or show our weaknesses. I wasn't allowed to fail and when I did inevitably fail, I felt that I needed to hide it… Continue reading I’m inadequate, and that’s completely ok.

Don’t wish this away.

There's beauty (and difficulty) in each phase of life. What if we could learn to just appreciate that instead of wishing we were already in the next phase? Especially regarding the baby/toddler phase - it seems like so many parents talk about that phase like it's something to be survived or endured, rather than cherished… Continue reading Don’t wish this away.

The boy who made me “Momma.”

Hard to believe he's about to turn 18 months old already!  There is no sweeter sound to my ears than his laughter, his baby babble, and his sweet voice saying "momma! Momma!" I love watching him grow up.  I love taking him to the park and to the store. I love how he says "hi"… Continue reading The boy who made me “Momma.”

All about my mom.

Some people have one mom. The woman who birthed/adopted/raised them is their mom. Until I married my husband, my "mom" was non-existent. The word carried little to no meaning for me.  I was raised by my dad. He didn't remarry until I was in my 20s and living 2.5 hours away. My stepmom is awesome… Continue reading All about my mom.
