Heat wave!

Ugh, record high temps this past week have kept us almost completely confined to staying inside. I’m more thankful than ever for air conditioning.

Well, we had a pretty exciting and busy week, despite nearly melting. Last Sunday, we went to an event at the park put on by our church. They had free BBQ, games, a bubble machine (much to Spencer’s delight), and rented out the park pool for everyone to swim. We still haven’t really met anyone so we mostly kept to ourselves and observed, but it was fun. Spencer loved going “simming.”

Monday, I worked for a little while and then took Spencer to Jordan’s softball games. I actually met another mom there, which was so nice… one of my goals for the summer was to make a friend at church. 😜 Poor Spen was so wiped that he zonked out in his stroller for the first time ever.

On Tuesday, I took Spencer on a play date in Granite with his friend Hudson. We swam and ate lunch and just hung out. I’m so thankful for that friendship.

Wednesday I worked all day. After work, I got some exciting news… more on that later.

Thursday I worked on things around the house and Spencer and I just took it easy.

Friday we were in Edwardsville from 9 AM until 9 PM. Left briefly to visit Jordan’s grandma and stopped by our old church to say hi. Spencer flopped on a beanbag when we got back and slept all afternoon while I worked on eBay listings for Jordan’s mom. After Jordan got off work he drove over and we got Chinese with his sister Olivia… they had their a/c off for whatever reason, so it was over a hundred degrees in the restaurant and we obviously opted for carry out. I felt bad for the employees. After we ate, we gave Spencer a bubble bath in the huge jet tub and he was amazed. He kept whispering “huuuge baff.” 😂

On Saturday, we went to the mall, thinking it would be less miserable than going somewhere outside. Well… not so much. Their a/c was barely functioning. Spencer picked out a picture book about trucks, of course, so I got him that. We let Spencer run around until we were all dripping sweat, then headed to Goodcents for lunch. Spencer flirted with a little girl baby there, but he also mocked her and said “cry, cry” when she was crying, so…

After lunch, naps of course, then church. We stayed after and ate hot dogs and chips from the little cafe for dinner. Spencer went to bed a little early, then we had a fun night of not sleeping a whole lot due to some very loud storms.

This morning was MUCH cooler, thankfully, so we took Spencer to the park before I had to go work in the nursery.

I truly love my family and love the life I have with them. I thank God every day for them. ❤️
