Thrifter’s report: March.

So this month I decided to resurrect my eBay store and start putting effort into listing and selling stuff again. I need to get a little more consistent and disciplined, but let’s face it, I’m just not really either of those things. Anyway, here’s my report for March (and we still have a week left, so I anticipate a few more sales 😜).

I was so excited to sell all 3 of these plushes within days of listing them. I picked them all up at the “bins,” aka the Goodwill outlet, so they cost me about .50-.75 each. I was most excited about the Puffalump cow. 🐄 The bra is another bins find, brand new, I had it sitting around for awhile and listed low to get rid of it.

Sylvester was so cute! Found him at the bins. Sold within days of listing. The Nesquik bunny (another bins find) had been sitting in my store for a couple months. The Nike shirt has been hanging in my closet for seriously a year. Listed it this month – bye bye shirt. And cute Whispy went to a happy new home after being listed less than a week.

I got the hats at a yard sale last year for .50 each. The nursing bra was from the bins and sold the day after I listed. And cute Curious George was also from the bins and sold within a couple days.

I do 99% of my sourcing from the bins. I especially love plushes (obviously), but I also love hats, bras, and suit coats. Why? They’re cheap, easy to photograph, and sell relatively quickly. They can almost always ship first class, which is inexpensive for me with my Top Rated Seller discount. And the plushes are just dang cute. I get really excited when I find toys from my childhood or older.

Taking out my shipping costs and seller fees, I made about $100 profit this month so far. It’s not a ton, obviously, but for the minimal effort I put in, it’s pretty exciting. We were able to buy a washer/dryer from our neighbor with my eBay money, which helped us cut the $40/month appliance rental out of our budget.

Pretty fun and easy way to make extra money from home. If you’re thinking of giving this a try, I highly recommend joining “The Thrifting Board” group on Facebook.
