To follow up on my post about my wishes for my son, here are some of my prayers for us as parents.

1) That we would always model a healthy relationship for our son. No fighting in front of him, no belittling each other or being passive aggressive. I want us to demonstrate an honest, loving marriage centered on God.
2) That we will always do whatever it takes to provide Spencer with the things he needs to succeed in school and in life.
3) That we will teach him the importance of hard work and help him learn the value of his things, so he doesn’t expect everything to be handed to him.
4) That we will guide him but also allow him the freedom and space to become who God wants him to be, rather than who we want him to be.
5) That we will show him, rather than tell him, how to be a follower of Christ. I want our lives to demonstrate that our faith goes so much deeper than just showing up for church on Sundays (well, we go on Saturdays, but still). Actions speak so much louder than words.
6) That we will guide him with love and purpose, not threats and fear of disappointing us.
7) That we will live our lives intentionally and authentically, rather than just doing things out of habit or because it’s what we’re “supposed to do.”
8) That we will teach him how to do things he needs to know in life, instead of just doing everything for him. He needs to know how to cook on occasion and do his laundry and change a tire and balance a budget and file his taxes. 😁
